About the Author ~ George W. Klontz
George W. Klontz was raised and educated in Olympia, WA where he earned a bachelor's degree in microbiology, a master's degree in immunology both from the University of Washington, followed by his doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University. Subsequently from 1969 to 1972, he was an Associate Professor of Veterinary Microbiology at Texas A&M University.
In 1972 Klontz joined the fisheries faculty at the University of Idaho where he helped build a nationally recognized program in fish health and became an internationally known scientist and aquaculture specialist. In 1994, he was awarded the Snieszko Award by the American Fisheries Society.
At the time of his death Klontz was retired from the University of Idaho and served as a Board of Director for the U.S. Trout Farmers Association. His service to the industry through teaching, writing, workshops, consultation and a special brand of humor, has earned him great admiration.
George W. Klontz will be missed by all of us at Silver Cup. We want to express our affection to his closest and endearing life companion, Martha; who remains close to our hearts and thoughts.
